The dulse is sustainably harvested, low temperature dried, and certified organic by OCIA. We also voluntarily test for heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, PCB's, fuel oil, and microbiological contaminants. A Raw Food. Use in soups, salads, stirfries and sandwiches.

MAINE COAST Laver Wild Atlantic Nori 28g

!
Purple/black Laver is a wild North Atlantic cousin to Japanese nori, and has been enjoyed in the British Isles for centuries. These un-sheeted whole, wild plants are best lightly roasted before use. Dry roasting brings out a nutty salty flavor, delicious crumbled onto soups, salads, pasta, potatoes or popcorn. Of our four Gulf of Maine sea veggies, Laver is the highest in Vitamins B1, B6, B12, C, and E, and contains significant amounts of vegetable protein, fiber, Iron, and other minerals and trace elements. Our Laver is certified organic by OCIA and we voluntarily test for heavy metal, chemical, and microbiological contaminants.

MAINE COAST Alaria Wild Atlantic Wakame 56g

!
Similar to Japanese wakame biologically and nutritionally, with a black or dark-green color, our Alaria offers a more wild yet delicate taste than cultivated wakame and needs longer cooking time. It is our preferred sea vegetable for miso soup. Alaria is a good dietary source of Vitamin A, [beta carotene], iron, potassium, magnesium, chlorophyll, enzymes, trace elements, Vitamin B's and dietary fiber. Used mostly in soups, Alaria can also be marinated, blanched or steamed for use in salads, or quick roasted and enjoyed as "chips." Our Alaria is certified organic by OCIA and we voluntarily test for heavy metal, chemical, and microbiological contaminants.

MAINE COAST Nori Sheets 17g

!
Ever since we began harvesting indigenous seaweeds in 1971, our friends and customers have been asking for a good, clean nori sheet. After unsuccessfully trying to make a rough and tough sheet from our local porphyra species, we learned that the Chinese were making excellent nori sheets and started selling those. Several years ago we traveled to China and started the process of organically certifying nori through the Chinese branch of OCIA International, our seaweed certifier here. Now, with the help of a third party importer, we are pleased to support the Chinese nori farmers and provide you with a premium product that we have, so far, been unable to grow ourselves. Use Maine Coast Nori to make traditional sushi or California rolls - or invent your own filling for this low-fat, nutrient-dense food wrap. The production and export of this nori involves no human rights abuse and, to the best of our knowledge has no connection with the Chinese government.

MAINE COAST Kelp Wild Atlantic Kombu 56g

!
thinner and more tender variety of Japanese kombu, light brown to dark green in color, Kelp is the all-purpose sea veggie - used in soup stocks, pan-fried for chips, stir-fried with carrots and other veggies, and marinated for salads. Its natural glutamates enhance flavors and tenderize high protein foods like beans. Intensely rich in minerals and trace elements, Kelp is highest in iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and offers substantial amounts of Vit. B's. Phytochemicals in kelp have been shown to absorb and eliminate radioactive elements and heavy metal contaminants from our bodies, as well as reduce the onset, frequency and size of tumors in laboratory experiments. Our Kelp is certified organic by OCIA and we voluntarily test for heavy metal, chemical, and microbiological contaminants.
